View Stats| How Stats Work

Scores are based on an accumlative scoring system of one thousand(1000) points.

MVP tryout evaluations assess a player’s skills and abilities. Player stats are posted online within 14 days of the tryout evaluation, resulting in a player’s national ranking based on grade level and position. This innovative process, developed by MVP Baseball, provides an accurate and unbiased standard for college coaches and pro scouts to compare players on a local and national level. This information also helps players and parents to get a realistic overview of where players stand in comparison to their peers.

Stats run from August 1st to July 31st each year and are based on your grade category at the time of tryout. The accumulated score is at the end of the stat column. This stat represents your total tool rating, not how well you play.

Position player's total points are judged as follows:
Points
Running speed 20% of points  200
Arm strength 20% of points  200
  Fielding 20% of points  200
Hitting mechanics 20% of points  200
Hitting for power 20% of points  200

Total:
1000

Your hitting score will show only one stat. We have combined hitting for average and power together. We believe a player should be well rounded and your stats will show a true value of your tools.

  Pitchers are evaluated as follows:
Points
  Velocity: 70%  700
Pitching mechanics, movement, pitch selection & control: 30%  300

Total:
1000

Due to the demands of higher level baseball, velocity carries more value.

Special note: As more players attend the tryouts, your total score may decrease. Here is why.

Infielders - Outfielders - Hitting and defensive skills ratings generate a fixed amount of points. If a player scores the same as you in these categories but has a quicker 60 yd dash time or stronger arm strength, he will have a higher total score and ranking.

Catchers - Hitting and defensive skills ratings generate a fixed amount of points. If a player scores the same as you in these categories but has a quicker 60 yd dash time, stronger arm strength, or quicker POP time to 2B he will have a higher total score and ranking.

Pitchers – Your pitching mechanics, movement, pitch selection & control skills ratings generate a fixed amount of points. . If another player scores the same as you in this category but has a stronger arm, he will have a higher total score and rating.

"This camp was a real eye opener to just how much hard work and dedication it takes to get to the college level and play ball. I really appreciate everything that I was taught concerning hitting, fielding, and throwing. The coaches really cared about me getting better as a baseball player."
